New Library Website
Have you noticed changes on the Texas State University's Webpages? Besides just the homepage, the university has been migrating into using a content management system for webpages found on the Texas State University server. All departments are required to move their webpages into the CMS. The main reason to move into a content management system is so content can be managed better and CM systems give all the webpages similiar design elements and conformity. Eventually there will be more than one template to choose from, but all the templates look similar.
Alkek Library probably has one of the larger websites on campus and we have been working on the new CMS website for over a year now. We've incorporated a lot of Web 2.0 or Library 2.0 elements or at least made those elements much more visible on the new website. A lot of thought was put into the information architecture (or organization) of the site and the results are what we hope will be a much more user friendly website.
Watch for a link to go up on the current website around the week of November 6. The site will officially go live at the end of the semester. In the meantime, you can take a peak by clicking here.
Feel free to comment on our new site. We will appreciate the feedback. We also plan on conducting usability testing and focus group feedback to finalize the site before the beginning of the spring semester.
